Former Bosnian Serb general Radislav Krstic was found guilty of genocide and sentenced to 46 years in prison August 2, 2001, at the International War Crimes Tribunal in the Hague, for the murder of almost 8,000 Muslim men and boys after the fall of the U.N.-designated "safe area" of Srebrenica in eastern Bosnia in July 1995.
